Birth Registration & Parent Support
In Vicenza, you only have 10 days to register your baby’s birth at Vicenza City Hall (“Municipio”) including the day your baby is born.

If your baby is born in Vicenza:

  1. Ensure parents’ name on hospital Birth Statement is the exact same as passport;
  2. Make an appointment with ACS interpreter to create a registration packet and to set up a City Hall registration appointment.

Bring:

  • Original Birth Statement from hospital (Attestato di Nascita)
  • Soldier’s military ID
  • Both Parents’ passports
  • Codice Fiscale of one of the parents
  • Marriage License

NOTE: If you do not speak Italian, you must bring at the Comune an interpreter/friend who can speak the language and translate the documents that the Comune requires you to sign.

  1. Arrive at City Hall where you will receive 3 Italian and 5 int’l birth certificates (FR/EN/DE/IT certified translations). If parents are married, only one parent must be present at registration. If not, both must be present. (Bring Green Pass, if applicable).

Remember: the Comune is not going to complete the registration if you are missing documents or if you did not bring an interpreter with you.
Army Community Service can help you to book an appointment with the Comune and to secure an interpreter. The interpreters ARE NOT ACS employees: they are independent contractors and it is your responsibility to pay them.

It is also YOUR responsibility:

  • To contact the interpreter at least 12 hours before your appointment to coordinate time and place where you are going to meet
  • To contact the Comune (by using the link you find in the e-mail that you will receive from the Comune) and the interpreter if you need to cancel the appointment.  If you cancel the appointment at the last minute or if you do not show at the pre-established place and time, the interpreter will not reimburse you the money.  As per request of the independent interpreters, you are required to pay for their service in advance.  Cost of service might vary.

NOTE: Process differs for sites outside of Vicenza.
