Briefing Schedule
Tuition Assistance (TA): Mondays from 10-11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 2-3 p.m. Each Soldier is required to attend this briefing before speaking with a counselor.
GI Bill: Second Monday of each month from 2-3 p.m.
Credentialing Assistance (CA): Effective, Nov. 16, the CA briefing is offered the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10-11 a.m.
ArmyIgnitED Open Lab
This is an ArmyIgnitED Open Lab. Soldiers receive hands-on assistance from an Army Education counselor for issues related to account creation, education goals, TA requests and creating helpdesk tickets. The Open Lab is offered Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m. and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon on a first-come, first-served basis.
Taking Tests
DSST/CLEP: Earn college credits for what you already know and save time and money. In most cases, CLEP/DSST tests are free for Soldiers. The Fort Carson National Testing Center is operated by Pikes Peak State College. Testing for CLEP/DSST exams is available by appointment only at Testing Center | Pikes Peak State College.
Military Testing: Email here to get updated forms or schedule one of the following tests: AFCT* - SIFT* - DLPT* - DLAB* - OPI* - ECL* - BMST - TABE - MAB II.
*All APTs require a DA Form 4187 signed by a captain/chief warrant officer 3 or above.
Basic Skill Education Program (BSEP)
Our on-duty program is a good place to start if you want to raise your GT scores and/or prepare for college-level courses. The BSEP course needs your commander’s approval. Classes begin every month. A TABE test is required before enrollment. E-mail the testing center to schedule a TABE test. Once you have the test results, you must contact an education counselor to enroll.
Reading and math computer-based programs with instructors to answer questions and help students. A full-time option and a part-time option are available. The full-time option is two weeks long, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The part-time option is four weeks long, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m. New classes start every month.
Computer Lab
Our computer lab is available on a first-come, first- served basis Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Soldiers may use the computer lab to complete their Army training, civilian courses or check their emails.
College Classes
There are five academic institutions that hold classes in the Fort Carson Education Center. Terms are 6-10 weeks in length. Soldiers and Family members can save money by attending classes on Fort Carson. On-post colleges understand Army Tuition Assistance and ArmyIgnitED procedures and provide one-stop services.
