SSG Glenn H. English Jr. Army Education Center

The Army Continuing Education System provides educational programs to Soldiers. Classes allow them to develop skills and occupational needs, as well as increase their career potential, job satisfaction and educational growth. Education programs and offices are located in the Staff Sgt. Glenn H. English Jr. Army Education Center located at 202 Bastogne Ave. The AEC offers a convenient educational atmosphere for Soldiers, Family members, and civilians to take advantage of all education programs and services conducive to learning.

College Programs

College Programs

Colleges providing on-post classes include Austin Peay State University ✪, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ✪, Murray State University ✪, and Hopkinsville Community College ✪. These institutions provide a variety of certificate, associate, baccalaureate and master degree level programs to military personnel, as well as adult military Family members, retired military personnel and DoD civilians. Education counselors can provide information on financial aid, tuition assistance and veteran’s benefits for Soldiers. Basic Skills Education Program
The Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) is a traditional two-week, on-duty program with classes meeting from 0900-1600, Monday-Friday. The class is designed to help Soldiers master functional reading, writing and mathematical skills. Completion of the program aids Soldiers in raising their general technical score, thus enhancing re-enlistment and promotion potential, as well as their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) efficiency. BSEP is also offered as a self-paced web-based program. For more information about either program, contact the BSEP coordinator at 270-798-0315.

Counseling Services
The education center provides a broad spectrum of educational guidance and counseling services, including information about tuition assistance and the G.I. Bill. Counselors provide assistance and information pertaining to the requirements of education programs and provide guidance in the selection of academic and vocational programs. Army Personnel Testing Center
The Testing Center provides monitored Army Personnel Tests to include: the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), Basic Science and Math Test (BMST), Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT), Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB), and other military skill assessments on an appointment basis. Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is administered every Friday at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, no appointment necessary. Learning Resource Center
The Learning Resource Center offers a computer lab for academic homework, research, and work-related web-based trainings. The LRC is available to Soldiers, DoD Civilians, adult Family members and students attending classes with on-post colleges. LRC also takes classroom reservations for daytime training purposes. Managing Your Education Program
Part of the Transition Assistance Program, Transition counselors at the Education Center assist Soldiers with GI Bill questions and activation. Service members out-processing under medical or other chapters receive one-on-one guidance related to their GI Bill and other financial aid resources for furthering their academic and vocational goals. Transition counselors also offer the Manage Your Education two-day workshop, guiding them through a variety of decisions involved in choosing a degree program, college institutions, funding sources, as well as completing the admission process.
