CSM Charles D. Walker, Command Sergeant Major, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

Command Sergeant Major Charles “Doug” Walker joined the United States Army as an Infantryman in 1998. He immediately assessed into the 75th Ranger Regiment where he spent his formative years as a Soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer.

CSM Walker’s 25-year career includes various assignments across the Special Operations Command and XVIII Airborne Corps; to include the 75th Ranger Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), 3rd Infantry Division and the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG). He has served in every enlisted leadership position from Fire Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major of a Brigade Combat Team. CSM Walker has deployed to combat zones numerous times in support of the Global War on Terror and has multiple other worldwide deployments.

CSM Walker most recently served as the senior enlisted advisor of the 2d Brigade Combat Team & 502d Infantry, “Task Force STRIKE,” since September 2020. He and TF STRIKE just re-deployed from Europe as part of the U.S. and NATO response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

CSM Walker has completed all levels of the U.S. Army’s Non-Commissioned Officer Education System, culminating with the Sergeant Major’s Course and earning the title of Distinguished Honor Graduate on multiple occasions. He has also completed the following military schools: Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder and Jumpmaster. In addition to his military education, he is nearing the completion of an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. 

CSM Walker’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th AWD), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 CS), Iraq Campaign Medal (4 CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Master Parachutists Badge and Air Assault Badge. Member of the Order of St. Maurice (Centurion), the Order of St. Barbara and an Honorary Member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Association.
