Michael Daniels serves as the deputy garrison manager for USAG Benelux - Brunssum.
Daniels received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vermont in 1983. He earned a Master of Military Arts and Science in Military History from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 2003, a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University in Alabama in 2005, a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania in 2014, where he was recognized as a distinguished graduate.
Prior to this assignment, Daniels served as the deputy garrison commander at the Yakima Training Center in Washington from April 2017 to October 2019. This was his first assignment as a Department of the Army civilian after retiring in 2016, having served 32 years in the Army on active duty.
While on active duty, Daniels served in a variety of assignments as both an enlisted infantryman and engineer officer throughout the United States and around the world, including Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Republic of Korea, Germany, Panama and England. Daniels received numerous awards and decorations through his career, including the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star, and is a graduate of various civilian and military courses and schools. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, the Army Engineer Association, International County/City Management Association, and a number of veterans service organizations.
