The Army Transition Assistance Program (TAP) is the Army's transition program responsible for providing Soldiers with the counseling, employment and education workshops, and seminars required to achieve the law and policy Career Readiness Standards (CRS) mandated compliance. TAP has undergone a re-engineering in order to "prepare" and "connect" Soldiers to ensure the greatest opportunities for successful personal and career achievement upon transition from active duty.
TAP Enrollment Process
You must register and complete an assessment, Individual Initial Counseling and program requirements 18 months prior to SEPARATION, 24 months prior to RETIREMENT. Please complete an assessment at, https://portal.armytap.army.mil
Step 1: To start the process, register for TAP providing contact information via in person, email, or phone. If you need to contact your TAP counselor, please call 410-306-2358 or email: andrisha.d.wells.ctr@army.mil.
Step 2: Once registered, you will be contacted by your TAP Counselor to schedule an Individual Initial Counseling and Pre-Separation Briefing; by either the phone number or email address you have provided.
Step 3: Next, you will be scheduled for required workshops and provided deliverables for completion of TAP. Also, you will be scheduled for your Capstone (final appointment).
Step 4: Lastly, you will meet with a counselor for final review of requirements (Capstone). The E-form 2648 will be electronically signed by counselor and Soldier then sent to commander for signature.
Step 5: Soldier may print as many copies of E-form 2648 as needed after the commander signs it from the MilConnect website: https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/
