Representatives from White Sands Missile Range were at the New Mexico State University Career Fair Sept. 17 and 18 to recruit summer interns.
Jessica Sosa, Human Resources Specialist, was present at the event giving out information and taking resumes. She said they talked to a lot of students who were interested in employment at WSMR.
“We are actively looking for our 2025 summer interns and Army Fellows Program allocations,” Sosa said. “Particularly students in the engineering field and operations research analysts.”
The summer intern program is an opportunity for students to come out to WSMR for the summer for a 12-week paid internship, which could lead to a position in the Army Fellows Program in an entry level position.
Marcos Salazar, a recent NMSU engineering graduate, said he worked with WSMR on his capstone project. He said the program helped assess his skills.
When asked what advise he would give to students he said, “Look for opportunities that will help enhance your skills.”
Student Marina Fountain, a mechanical engineer and aerospace engineering student at NMSU, said she is interested in WSMR because they are in the area. She also had family members who worked at WSMR.
She said it was nice to have WSMR representatives at the fair to facilitate getting information.
