WSMR Museum curator recognized during Town Hall meeting
Darren Court, the White Sands Missile Range Museum Curator was recognized during the July 25 Town Hall meeting held at the Post Theater.
WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. Eric Little presented Court with the Civilian Service Commendation Medal for exemplary performance during the WSMR museum expansion and gallery redesign.
“He has done a phenomenal job with our museum,” Little said.
Little then went on to talk about the Army 2030-2040 way ahead, multi-domain/large scale operations, the Data Driven Leaders Course and security and vulnerabilities.
He talked about where the Army is going, why the Army is going there and the value and importance and the linkage of what each and every employee at WSMR does to work towards that vision of where the Army is going.
Little went over a snapshot of what is going on with the Army.
As the Army was fighting the Global War on Terror he said there were adversaries that were watching and learning so they are now our pacing threat. He said China and Russia are now the threats we are watching.
“Those are the two (threats) that is shaping the direction that the Army and the Joint Force is headed with regard to modernization and how we are going to prepare ourselves.”
He said that now a conflict against China or Russia will look very different than what we had in Iraq and Afghanistan, and it ties into multi-domain operations.
“If we are going to succeed in future conflicts, we have to master the multi-domain operations.”
“It is important you understand the overarching concepts and how that applies to who we are and what we do and why we are doing it,” Little said. “Whatever your role or responsibility is on the range start thinking about how you can contribute to that effort because that is the direction we are heading.”
