
WSMR holds Army Ball at the Frontier Club in honor of the Army’s 249th birthday
WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (June 11, 2024) On June 8, White Sands Missile Range leadership hosted the annual Army Ball at the Frontier Club on post. Over 200 guests including service members, staff, and family attended in honor of the Army’s 249th birthday.
The event was hosted by WSMR Commander Col. George C. Turner, WSMR Command Sgt. Maj. Michael S. Cordery, White Sands Test Center Commander Col. Shawn Smart, Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Jamal Latore, and WSMR Executive Director Vincent M. Liddiard.
The evening kicked off with a social hour and a receiving line where WSMR leadership and their spouses welcomed the guests.
Between ceremonies involving long standing veterans and dinner, there were toasts, and live jazz music played by the Fort Bliss 1st Armored Division Jazz Combo Band.
Guest speaker, former WSMR Commander, Brig. Gen. retired Eric L. Sanchez, spoke to the guests about the sacrifice and work ethic that our Soldiers and civilians demonstrate every day to support the Army’s priorities in national defense.
After the cake cutting, Turner’s closing remarks, and the Retiring of the Colors, the DJ opened the dancefloor to guests who danced as the evening came to an end.
