TEA Talk on Employee Self Awareness

Jesse McKinney with The NCO Leadership Center of Excellence was the guest speaker at the May 11 White Sands Missile Range Test and Evaluation Analysis Talk (TEA) at the Professional Development Center.

McKinney spoke about Employee Self Awareness at the event attended by WSMR leadership.

He went over the importance of self-assessments and self-awareness.

McKinney also talked about the problem with leaders who don’t talk to their employees and not being honest about their work performance. “It is about you leading the team to success.”

When doing assessments, he said leaders need to ask themselves four questions:

Are you as good as you want or need to be?

Are you willing to be completely honest with yourself while taking these assessments?

Are you willing to put in the work to be as good as you must be to lead our Soldiers?

Do you know how others perceive you as a leader?

McKenney said the center is developing a program for civilians called the Civilian Leader Development Program which is set to launch at the beginning of the new fiscal year.
