Several White Sands Missile Range employees were recognized during a Garrison Town Hall meeting Dec. 11 at the Post Theater.
WSMR Garrison Commander Col. Don Mozer and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Jimmy Diaz recognized Carlos Martinez (Designer), Roman Gallegos (Welder), Mario Moreno (Installer), Jaime Madrid (Installer), and Alejandro Vasquez for their support of the inaugural Team WSMR Holiday Rocket Lighting ceremony.
“The team along with a support staff rose to the challenge by exhibiting strategic planning, personal effort, and tireless commitment. Within a single week, these critical elements of the DPW team successfully designed and executed the complex logistics necessary to power and place over 900 linear feet of holiday lighting on the iconic PGM-11 Redstone Rocket.”
Mozer and Diaz also presented Lt. Victor Mancha Jr., Lt. Edgar Valenzuela, Firefighter Juan Cruz, and Firefighter Marcos Rigales Diaz with certificates of achievement for “Exceptional Performance and Teamwork During a Critical Medical Emergency.”
“On Oct. 2, 2025, responding to a childbirth emergency involving severe hemorrhaging, the crew demonstrated remarkable skill and professionalism. Their swift actions in initiating Basic Life Support and collaborating effectively with medical personnel ensured the stabilization and safe transport of the patient to Memorial Medical Center.”
Mozer said their quick actions saved the lives of both the mother and child.
Mozer and Diaz also recognized several employees with length of service awards and excellence awards.
Mozer finished the meeting by encouraging employees to look out for each other, especially during the holiday season.
