Firefighters combine fun and education to teach kids about fire safety

The White Sands Missile Range Fire Department visited White Sands School on Oct. 17 to educate students about fire safety. They set up an interactive session for the kids and presented awards to the coloring contest winners.

At the end of the session, the kids were allowed to ask questions. One student asked what to do if you forget your pet while trying to escape a burning home. The firefighter replied, "Do not go back in the house for your pet. When the firefighters get there, you tell them about your pet. Never go back in the house."
