LTC Erick Velasquez

LTC Erick Velasquez enlisted in the Army in 1992 as a Chemical Operational Specialist and completed Basic Training and AIT with D/82nd CM BN at Fort McClellan, AL. As an enlisted Soldier and NCO, he served in the 46th CM CO, 2nd CM BN at Fort Hood, TX; 1/501st AVN BN at K16, South Korea; 63rd CM CO and 6/101st AVN BN at Fort Campbell, KY; and A/2-10 IN and D/82nd CM BN at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
LTC Velasquez received his commission in 2001 through OCS at Fort Benning, GA and graduated from Chemical Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His assignments include: Company XO for E/82d CM BN at Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Platoon Leader for 1/267th CM CO, 23rd CM BN at CP Carroll, South Korea; Group Chemical Officer for 6th MP GP (CID) at Fort Lewis, WA; Company Commander for 62nd CM CO, 23rd CM BN at Fort Lewis, WA and at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan; Assistant Professor for the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences, United States Military Academy at West Point, NY; Deputy Division Chemical Officer and Division CBRN Chief for 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, TX; Combined Forces – Jordan CBRN Chief at Amman, Jordan; Battalion XO for 22d CBRN BN at Fort Bliss, TX. LTC Velasquez recently served as the CWMD Branch Chief for Army Futures Command CDID-RDD and was selected to command 2-10 IN at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
LTC Velasquez’ civilian education includes: an Associate in Arts in General Studies from Austin Peay State University, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Drury University, and a Masters of Professional Studies in Molecular Biotechnology from the George Washington University. His awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4); Army Commendation Medal (4); Army Achievement Medal (4); Joint Meritorious Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Citation; Army Good Conduct Medal (2); National Defense Service Medal (2); Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Metal, NATO Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Parachutists Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
LTC Velasquez is engaged and has five children.
