COL Joshua G. Glonek
COL Joshua G. Glonek is a native of Gordon, WI. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in May 2003.
As a lieutenant, he was assigned to 1-504 PIR, 82nd Airborne Division where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Support Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer. During this time, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following completion of the Maneuver Captains Career Course, COL Glonek was assigned to the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, where he served as a Rifle Company Commander and Headquarters Company Commander. During this assignment, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
As a major, he served as an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. Subsequently, he joined the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) where he served as a G5 plans officer, Battalion S3, and Brigade S3. During this time, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Resolute Support. COL Glonek was later assigned to the Pentagon where he served as the Speechwriter to the Secretary of the Army, followed by Chief Speechwriter to the Secretary of Defense.
From May 2020 to May 2022, COL Glonek commanded the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, within the 10th Mountain Division. Following Battalion Command, he served as the G3 of the 10th Mountain Division, deploying with the Division Headquarters to Europe. Most recently, COL Glonek completed an Army War College Fellowship at Stanford University.
He is a graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies, Command and General Staff College, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, and Airborne School.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a Master’s Degree in Military Art and Science from the Command and General Staff College.
COL Glonek is married to his wife, Dana, and they have three daughters, Gloria, Jacqueline, and Faye.
