Command Sergeant Major George J.P. Turkovich III
CSM George J.P. Turkovich III is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He enlisted in the Army in August 2001 as an airborne Infantryman and later attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Moore, GA
CSM Turkovich has served in every leadership position from Team Leader through Company First Sergeant. He also served as an Air Movement Operations Instructor, Jumpmaster Instructor/Writer, Senior Maneuver OC/T, and both Battalion and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major
CSM Turkovich’s military education include Airborne School, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Jumpmaster School, Small unmanned Ariel Vehicle Operators Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Air Movement Operations, technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials, Senior Leaders Course, Pathfinder Course, Instructor Training Course, Battle Staff, Combatives Level 1 & 2, Observer Controller Academy, Master Driver Course, Air Assault School, Commander/First Sergeant Course, Combat Advisors Training Course, Sergeants Major Academy, and Mission Command Digital Master Gunner.
CSM Turkovich also graduated with an undergraduate degree in Leadership Work Development from the Command and General Staff College.
His stateside assignments include Fort Liberty, North Carolina (1/504th PIR, 2/504th PIR, Advanced Airborne School, and 2SFAB), Fort Drum, New York (2-22 IN), Fort Bliss, Texas (1-67 AR), Fort Knox, Kentucky (U.S Army Cadet Command) and Fort Johnson, Louisiana (JRTC Operations Group, 2-2IN, and 3/10 BCT).
His deployment assignments include Operation Iraqi Freedom and four times to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Resolute Support, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel
CSM Turkovich’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (3rd award) the Meritorious Service Medal (4th award) the Army Commendation Medal (9th award) the Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, British Jump Wings, and the German Armed Forces Badge of Markmanship/ Schutzenschnur.
He resides on Fort Johnson, Louisiana with his wife, Michelle.
