Lieutenant Colonel Shawn C. Keller

Shawn C. Keller is a native of Salisbury, Maryland. He graduated from Wilmington College in Georgetown, Delaware, and then attended the Maryland State Officer Candidate School where he received his commission in the Military Police Corps in June of 2000.

Lieutenant Colonel Keller began his career serving in the United States Marine Corps from February 1990 thru February 1994 as an Aviation Ordnance Technician.  He was stationed in Beaufort, SC, and was assigned to an FA-18 Fixed Wing Attack Squadron. In 1994, he voluntarily separated from active duty. After a small break in service, he reenlisted in July 1995 and joined the 200th Military Police Company in the Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG). While serving in the MDARNG, his civilian experiences included working for the Delmar Police Department (1995-1998), the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (1998-2000), and the Delaware State Police (2000-2005). His last assignment was with the Delaware State Police K-9 Division.  In 1999, LTC Keller was selected to attend Maryland Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School. After graduation, he attended his Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, graduating on February 21, 2002. LTC Keller served in the 200th MP CO as a platoon leader and Company Commander until returning to active duty in April 2006. LTC Keller reported to his first duty station at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and attended the Military Police Captains Career Course. He was then assigned to a dual billet where he served as the Commander, D Co, 701st Military Police Battalion and the USAMPS AF Exchange Officer at the AF Security Forces Center at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX from 2008-2010. LTC Keller deployed from 2010-2011 to Al Kut, Iraq, where he served as the Deputy Team Chief for a Stability Transition Team assigned to the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment. He served as the Commander, United States Army Correctional Activity / Deputy Facility Commander for the Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility from 2011-2012 and the Executive Officer for the 508th Military Police Battalion, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA from 2013-2015. He deployed in 2014 as the XO for the 508th MP BN in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; conducted detainee operations at the Afghan National Detention Facility in Parwan.  From 2015 to 2018 LTC Keller served on the CJCS, J35-South team conducting Global Force Management Operations in Norfolk, VA.  His most recent assignment before taking command was the Deputy Brigade Commander, 18th Military Police Brigade in Vilseck, Germany. LTC Keller’s other significant deployments include a 2007 deployment to Baghdad, Iraq, as a National Police Transition Team Operations officer; a deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan as a Military Police Company Executive Officer and platoon leader and an Operation Noble Eagle deployment on September 11, 2001, to the U.S. Pentagon in direct support of the FBI’s crime scene investigation.

 LTC Keller’s military and civilian education includes Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JPME II), CGSC Intermediate Level Education, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, Military Police Captain’s Career Course and the Officer Basic Course, Anti-Terrorism Officer Basic Course, MP Physical Security Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault School, the Military Transition Team Basic and Advanced Course. He has a Law Enforcement Proficiency Certificate and an Associate Degree in General Studies from WorWic Community College in Salisbury, Maryland. He also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and a minor in Information Systems from Wilmington College in Georgetown, Delaware. LTC Keller earned his Master of Arts Degree in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster’s University.
