Command Sergeant Major Michael C. Henry entered the Army in October of 1992 and completed One Station Unit Training for MOS 11B (Infantry) at Fort Benning, Georgia.

CSM Henry has served as scout, radio transmission operator, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Ranger Instructor, First Sergeant, NCO Academy Deputy Commandant, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Brigade Command Sergeant Major.  He has served with the 1/27th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division and the 25th Infantry Division Long Range Surveillance Detachment (LRSD), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, 2d/505th Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, 3d Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, 4th Ranger Training Battalion, 2d/14th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, 4th/31st Infantry, Fort Drum, New York, 173d IBCT (Airborne), 1/503  Infantry  in Vicenza, Italy, the 4th Brigade, U.S. Army Cadet Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 157th Combined Arms Brigade at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, First Army East.  CSM Henry's most recent assignment was in TRADOC as the Deputy Commandant of the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy stationed out of Fort Bliss, Texas.

CSM Henry deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2006-2007 and 2009-2010.  He also deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2001-2002 and 2012-2013.

Command Sergeant Major Henry’s awards and decorations include the Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge (w/ Bronze Star), Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, German, Italian, and Canadian parachutist badges, Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (6th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (9th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (9th award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal (3 campaign stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (w/ Arrowhead Device), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 6), and the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4).

Command Sergeant Major Henry is a graduate of Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, U.S. Marine Corps Scout Swimmer Course, the U.S. Army Ranger School, Special Operations Tactical Instructor Course, Instructor/ Trainer Course and all of the Army’s NCO Professional Military Education courses, graduating from the USASMA Sergeants Major Course, Class 62, and the Nominative Leaders Course 18-02.  Command Sergeant Major Henry has an Associate’s degree from Excelsior College in Management and Administration Studies and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree with Excelsior.
