TWO Program
Whether you’ve served three years or 30, transitioning back to “civilian life” can be just as rough as the first day in basic training. The U.S. Army Garrison Okinawa’s Transitioning Workforce Opportunity – Program or TWO-P as it’s commonly called, acts as a conduit for service members who are moving from Soldier to civilian, making it smoother and less of a culture shock.
Want to learn more about the program? Watch the interviews with our TWO-P participants below. Ready to sign up? Contact DHR at DSN: 315-652-4372.
About the Transitioning Workforce Opportunity Program
The TWO Program is open to all Soldiers who are out-processing from the Army (ETS, retirement) within 6 - 18 months. Soldiers are placed in a civilian department within the U.S. Army Garrison that matches their interest and participate in a special internship in said department.
Soldiers go to work every day as civilians in this department: they are assigned tasks, work in conjunction with the civilian co-workers and get a fully immersive “civilian” experience. Through this process Soldiers attain skillsets that can be transcribed to their resumes to better their hiring potential. This includes online and in-person training of essential skills for the job as well as advice and assistance in applying for government jobs. This internship opportunity fully immerses them with their Civilian counterparts to understand what the Civilian workplace can potentially offer.
