Brigadier General Jeremy Bartel
Deputy Commanding General, Installation Management Command
Brigadier General Jeremy A. Bartel currently serves as the Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Prior to assignment at Installation Management Command, Brig. Gen. Bartel commanded Special Operation Joint Task Force – Central headquartered in Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, overseeing Special Operations activities in support of OPERATION ENDURING SENTINEL. He also served as the Chief of Staff, U.S Army Central Command.
Brig. Gen. Bartel’s other Special Operations assignments include: Special Forces Operational Detachment Commander and assistant Battalion Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne); Special Forces Company Command and Battalion Operations Officer, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne); Group Operations Officer at 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne); Deputy Commanding Officer, Combined Special Operations Task Force – 10; and Director of Joint Operations for Special Operations Command – Europe.
Brig. Gen. Bartel’s other key military positions include: Senior Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict from 2021-23; Commander of U.S. Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands from 2019-21; and Commander, HHBN, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Red Cloud, Korea.
Brig. Gen. Bartel has deployed in support of named operations across three Global Combatant Commands including OPERATION JOINT GUARDIAN, Kosovo; OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM – Philippines, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq; OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan; and OPERATION ENDURING SENTINEL, Qatar.
Brig. Gen. Bartel commissioned from Kemper Military Academy in 1995 as an Engineer Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and a Master of Science in Defense Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He was also selected as an Army War College Fellow in Herzliya, Israel, at the Institute for Counterterrorism within the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy.
