Command Sergeant Major Erick Matthew Detrich, joined the Army in July of 1998 as a Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, SC.

During his career, Command Sgt. Maj.  Detrich, served as an Equipment / Parts Specialist, Heavy and Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, Squad Leader, Shop Foreman, Combat Repair Team NCOIC, Support Operations Maintenance NCOIC, Battalion Motor Sergeant, Senior Maintenance Supervisor, AIT Platoon Sergeant, Brigade and Battalion Operations NCOIC, Forward Support Company First Sergeant, Division Chief Mechanical Maintenance NCO, ACoS G3 Operations NCOIC and Battalion Command Sergeant Major. He has participated in four deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, a short tour in the United Arab Emirates and participated in Pacific Pathway 17-01.

Command Sgt. Maj.Detrich, has been assigned to the following units: 70th Transportation CO. Manheim Germany, 2-4 Field Artillery Battalion, Fort. Sill, OK., 296th Brigade Support Battalion Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA., 593rd Special Troop Battalion Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA., 16th Ordnance Battalion Fort Gregg-Adams, VA., 59th Ordnance Brigade Fort Gregg-Adams, VA., 5-3 Field Artillery Regiment Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA., 1/23rd Infantry Battalion Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA., 7th Infantry Division G-4 Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA., the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command and the 553D Division Sustainment Support Battalion at Fort Cavazos, TX.

Command Sgt. Maj. Detrich’s military and civilian education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Course, Sergeants Major Development Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Platoon Sergeant Course, Battle Staff Course, Senior Maintenance Managers Course, Global Combat Support System-Army managers course and is also ASE Certified. 

He is a member of the Ordnance Association and the Field Artillery Association and has been awarded the Samuel Sharp and the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara Awards. His other awards and decorations include the Valorous Unit Award (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Award, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Accommodation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal-Combat Stars (6), Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award), the Drivers and Mechanic Badge and a Silver German Marksmanship Badge.

Command Sgt. Maj. Detrich is married and has three children.
