COL Christopher J. Midberry
Colonel ​​Christopher J. Midberry was commissioned in 1999 as an Infantry officer from The United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from West Point, a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University, an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the National War College, National Defense University. He served in a variety of command and staff assignments in both Airborne, Mechanized, and Air Assault Infantry units.
His first assignment was to the 82d Airborne Division from 2000-2004 where he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While assigned to 1-325th AIR, he deployed to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian and to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF I).
Upon completion of the Captain’s Career Course, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2d Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he initially served as a Battalion S1 and later, while deployed to Iraq in support of OIF III, assumed command of Alpha Company, 1-64th Armor Battalion. He next served as an instructor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he taught Leadership to cadets in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership (BS&L).
In 2011, COL Midberry returned to the 82d Airborne Division in the 1st Brigade Combat Team. He served as the Battalion Operations Officer (S3) and then Battalion Executive Officer (XO) in the 2-504th PIR, where he deployed twice to Afghanistan – once in 2012 and again in 2014. COL Midberry then served as the Brigade Executive Officer of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82d Airborne Division.
COL Midberry next served as an Observer/Coach Trainer (OCT) at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) at Hohenfels, Germany from 2015-2017. COL Midberry commanded the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) from 2017-2019. His most recent assignment was with the Joint Staff, Joint Operations Directorate (J35).
His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Career Courses, Combined Arms and Staff Service School, the Command & General Staff College, Senior Service College, Airborne, Air Assault, Jumpmaster, Long Range Surveillance Leader, Mechanized Leader, and Ranger Courses.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He holds the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.
