Mission:
The Fort Belvoir Transportation Office (Household Goods) delivers services to Service Members, Family Members and Civilians by managing the shipment and storage of personal property.
As soon as you receive your permanent change of station (PCS) orders, it’s important to begin scheduling your move.
It is advisable to begin preparing for your move by registering in the Defense Personal Property System online at DPS PORTAL. The website hosts online briefings to assist you with the moving process and affords the ability to schedule dates for property pick up. DPS can be accessed from any computer with internet access or contact the Fort Belvoir Transportation Office (Household Goods) for further assistance.
Use these tools and website to help you manage your personal property shipment
Visit the Defense Personal Property, or DPS landing page to begin setting up your move.
DPS landing page will display a series of questions that will help you determine if your shipment(s) will be carried out under the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) or processed by DPS and moving under the legacy program. Depending on your move dates and locations, your responses will either allow you to continue onto DPS where you can schedule your move, track your shipment or file a moving claim; or you will be sent to the DOD’s MilMove system for movement under GHC.
Log in using a common access card, or CAC, or by obtaining a user ID and password before accessing DPS.

Moving with your pet includes researching airline requirements and quarantine restriction laws in your new location. Many airlines have requirements for size, weight, breed, number of animals, kennel construction, documentation and seasonal limitations. Small pets may be shipped on military flights, but availability and regulations frequently change.
