Who We AreAs the largest legal office within the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), the White Sands Office of the Staff Judge Advocate prides itself on providing the commander, his staff, and directorates value-added legal counsel. Since White Sands Missile Range is a DoD reimbursable activity, the SJA office further assists the command in assuring that all appropriations and reimbursable are managed in accordance with sound business practices.

Our MissionThe SJA office addresses virtually every field of law relevant to practice within the federal government. Our multi-talented team of experienced attorneys and legal support personnel provide timely, accurate, and reasoned counsel in all areas of law and policy, to include: installation operations; fiscal law; contract law; environmental law; labor law; civil litigation; criminal law; legal assistance; and claims actions.

Legal AssistanceIn accordance with AR 27-3, the White Sands Range Staff Judge Advocate Office provides no-cost legal assistance to active-duty soldiers, military retirees, and their dependents. Appointments with the legal assistance attorney are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by calling (575) 678-1263.

The Legal Assistance office also provides walk-in notary services and power-of-attorneys. These services are provided Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Notary services are provided to federal civilian employees as well.

The legal assistance attorney can prepare wills, living wills, power-of-attorneys, and marital separation agreements. Our team can also counsel on legal issues such as: bankruptcy, consumer issues, debt collectors, divorce, immigration, military laws and regulations, probate, and real estate.
