JC River Walk Trail

The JC River Walk Trail is an easy, 9.4 mile (4.7 miles each way) unpaved out and back trail. It runs along the Republican River from the trailhead just outside Trooper Gate to Milford Dam.

Become immersed in nature on the JC River Walk Trail. This trail features wooded seclusion with several outlets to the Republican River. Make some stops at the scenic lookout points to enjoy beautiful views of the river and watch for bald eagles and other native Kansas birds. Benches and picnic areas are also available along the route.

Whitside Ridge Trail

Whitside Ridge Trail is a moderately difficult 2.8 mile paved loop. Parking is available at Irwin Army Community Hospital and Whitside Fitness Center.

The Whitside Ridge Trail features woods, steep hills and unbeatable panoramic views from the top. This trail features steep inclines and shady wooded scenery. You can almost imagine you've stepped back in time to the frontier days when you look down from the top of the ridge on the First Territorial Capital, the Kansas River, and the Flint Hills stretching out in the distance.

Custer Hill Trails

The Custer Hill Trail is an easy, 5 mile paved loop around the old golf course. There is an additional 5 miles of trails throughout the golf course. It is located on Custer Hill and can be accessed via First Infantry Drive or Trooper Drive.

The Custer Hill Trail will take you through the heart of Fort Riley. A network of trails that includes miles of paved path, The Custer Hill Trails are an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of Custer Hill, slow down, relax and unwind. This path can be used by all types of pedestrians from joggers to bikers to walkers. Trail users have the opportunity to see native birds and enjoy nature at the bird watching area on the 1.1 mile nature trail loop. The Custer Hill Trail also offers access to a disk golf course, a creek, and the Fort Riley Outdoor Adventure Park.

Riley's Loop Trail

Riley's Loop Trail is an easy 2 mile paved loop. It is located at the Riley Community Center off Huebner Road. Enjoy a stroll or bike ride along the easy paved path.

This trail features some easy slopes to take a jog, pleasant views to enjoy the wildlife or reflect on your day, pedestrian bridges, and a set of exercises equipment that is sure to get your heart rate up. Located on Historic Main post, pedestrians will have a chance to enjoy the architecture of some historic brick homes and buildings dating back to the 1800s.

Forsyth Walking Trail

Forsyth Walking Trail is an easy, 2.5 mile, part paved and part unpaved loop. It can be accessed from the Camp Forsyth neighborhood. The Forsyth Walking Trail features over seven playgrounds, two bark parks, two schools, a community garden, soccer and baseball fields, and a community center.

Fort Riley Hiking Trail

Fort Riley Hiking Trail is a moderately difficult, 2.9 mile (1.8 miles each way) unpaved out and back trail. It can be accessed from the playground on the south east side of Moon Lake.

Fort Riley Hiking Trail was improved  as an Eagle Scout Project by Grant Cyrulik and Boy Scout Troop 60 in 2017. This trail winds through densely wooded natural terrain and features steep slopes, a beautiful waterfall in the spring and a scenic overlook. Views from the Outdoor Chapel offers sweeping views of the Flint Hills, the river and Fort Riley Cemetery. One of the more challenging trails on Fort Riley, the Fort Riley Hiking Trail delivers challenging, but rewarding experiences.

Moon Lake Trail

Moon Lake Trail is an easy 1.2 mile (.51 miles each way) gravel out and back trail located on the northwest side of Moon Lake.

Moon Lake Trail was extended with funds received by Fort Riley for winning the bronze award in the Army Communities of Excellence program. The trail provides a relaxing, enjoyable and easy access walking path to the Moon Lake Park from one of the largest housing areas on Fort Riley. This area has always been teeming with local wildlife where Soldiers and their families can take a moment out of their busy lives to venture out onto a safe, enjoyable, not so beaten path. Moon Lake Park provides a serene place to relax in the shade. Listen to the sound of the birds as you make your way down to the lake to have a picnic, play at the park or go fishing.
