Mission:
The characteristics of a hazardous waste include ignitability, corrosively, reactivity, and/or toxicity properties that make it dangerous or potentially harmful to human health or the environment. The universe of hazardous wastes is large and diverse. Hazardous wastes can be liquid, solid, contained gas, or sludge. They can be the by-products of manufacturing processes or simply discarded commercial products, like cleaning fluids or pesticides. Reducing our consumption of hazardous material-containing products in our business activities and at home will result in less hazardous wastes being generated and being disposed of in landfills. Management Plans and checklists can be accessed from the links at the right. The Environmental Division manages hazardous waste generated at the Presidio, OMC and SATCOM facilities.
