Command Sgt. Maj. Alejandro J. Licea

CSM Alejandro (Alex) J. Licea is a South Florida native, and he enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2002.

CSM Licea has deployed all over the world serving in various positions as a public affairs professional covering combat operations and engagements in both Iraq and Afghanistan. CSM Licea recently served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 24th Theater Public Affairs Support Element based at Fort Bliss, Texas from 2023 to 2025.

CSM Licea assignments include the famed 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division where he deployed to Iraq in 2008-2009. He worked throughout the U.S. Southern Command AOR during his time at Special Operations Command South from 2010-2015. He was assigned as the NCOIC for the Army Public Affairs Center from 2016-2018 at Fort Meade, MD. CSM Licea was assigned as the Public Affairs NCOIC for the 1st Armored Division, based at Fort Bliss, TX, from 2018-2020 and deployed to Southeastern Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel/Resolute Support. CSM Licea served as the Public Affairs SGM for the storied XVIII Airborne Corps from 2021-2023 at Fort Bragg N.C., where he served as the public affairs chief for the Fort Bragg Senior Mission Commander and rapidly deploying to Europe in February 2022 where he conducted strategic communication efforts in Europe during Operation Assure, Deter and Reinforce in support of NATO Allies in Europe.

He is a graduate of Class 71 of the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy and earned his Lean Six Sigma certification. CSM Licea holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Communications and a Master’s Degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. 

His significant military awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge. He has also earned 10 foreign jump wings from nations such as Colombia, El Salvador and Canada Jump Wings. CSM Licea was also the 2019 recipient of both the MSG Marcia Triggs Award for Excellence by the Army Public Affairs Association and the 2018 AUSA SGM Dawn Kilpatrick Scholarship award.
