A sponsorship program provides the structure for units to welcome and help prepare SMs and DACs for their next duty station prior to their actual arrival.
Not only does the program help the newcomer learn about his/her new assignment but the sponsor (appointed by the commander to assist the incoming newcomer) should also send information about the Darby Military Community to the incoming SM or DAC.
The sponsor is the key to helping newcomers and their families get comfortably settled as quickly as possible, thereby putting the newcomers' minds at rest so they can concentrate on their duties as soon as possible.
Active Duty Soldiers and Airmen
Requesting a Sponsor - Army
Visit your gaining installation website to apply for a sponsor online, if available. For military installations world-wide, please logon to Military OneSource at www.militaryonesource.mil and look for the “Installation Locator” box.
Complete DA Form 5434 and fax, email or mail it to your gaining installation.
This can’t be completed until you’ve received notification from Human Resources Command.
Requesting a Sponsor - Air Force
• If you are joining the 731st Munitions Squadron, you should be automatically assigned a sponsor. Please reach out to your unit POC or email 731MUNS.CSS.PersonnelActions@us.af.mil to request a sponsor.
• If you are an Air Force spouse, you can request a spouse sponsor by contacting ACS by email at CampDarbyACS@army.mil or phone +39-050-965-8232. You can also reach out the Air Force Key Spouse group at campdarbykeyspouse@gmail.com
Requesting a Sponsor - Department of the Army Civilians (DACs)
If you are a civilian employee please reach out to your unit POC to request a sponsor, or email CampDarbyACS@army.mil if you have any questions.
Spouse Sponsors
Have questions about PCSing to Italy? Spouse Sponsors are volunteer spouses stationed at your new unit that can help with your transition to Italy.
If you are a spouse, you can request a spouse sponsor by contacting ACS. Call +39-050-965-8232 or email CampDarbyACS@army.mil - Make sure to include:
- Your name
- E-mail or social media contact info
- Your Soldier’s or Airmen’s Name and Unit

CYS YOUTH SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM (YEAR-ROUND)
CYS matches incoming youth, grades 6th-12th, with a peer of a similar age. They can communicate in advance so your kids already know someone on the first day of school! Or, they can be matched upon arrival as well. To request a sponsor, email the School Liaison Officer. Please ensure you include the Youth Sponsor Request in your email.
