VMC Planned Protest
There will be a planned public march and demonstration in downtown Vicenza on Saturday, 30 May 2026, 1600-2100. The march will begin at Piazzale di Monte Berico and proceed along Viale X Giugno, Ponte Santa Libera, and Via Dalmazia, concluding at Piazzale Esedra.


Caserma Ederle Gate 1 Outbound Closure:
From 17 April -03 June 2026, Caserma Ederle Gate 1 Outbound will be closed for maintenance. The following Caserma Ederle Gates will be open:
Gate 1 - 24hrs/7 days a week, Inbound traffic only.
Gate 2 (Chapel Gate) - 24hrs/7 days a week, Outbound traffic only.
Gate 4 (Housing Gate) - Monday - Friday, Inbound traffic from 0600-1800
Gate 5 (Clinic Gate) - Monday - Friday, Outbound for Large Commercial Vehicles from 0800-1800. Outbound for all vehicles from 1600-1800.
Guests may still be signed in at Gate 1. Please follow gate guard guidance when departing the installation.

Vicenza Cycling Race “La Palladiana” 29 MAY 26
Due to the competitive cycling race “2nd MSTC Grand Prix – La Palladiana,” on Friday, May 29, 2026 several streets along the historic city center will have temporary traffic changes in effect. The race will start at 5:30 PM from Viale Dalmazia and continue along Viale Eretenio, Contra’ Mure Pallamaio, Piazza Castello, through Porta Castello, Piazzale De Gasperi, Viale Roma, and back to Viale Dalmazia. As a result, the following roads will be closed to vehicle traffic:
·the westbound lane of Viale Eretenio
·Contra’ Mure Pallamaio
·the westbound lane of Piazza Castello (Viale Roma side)
·Piazzale De Gasperi
·Viale Roma
Residents will still be allowed access whenever possible, depending on race conditions and safety requirements.
In addition, from 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM on Friday, May 29, parking will be prohibited along the entire length of Contra’ Mure Pallamaio and on the section of Viale Eretenio between Contra’ Mure Pallamaio and Viale Venezia. Local public bus routes will be temporarily diverted, and the taxi stand in Piazza Castello will be suspended.

Brenner Pass Shutdown - Saturday, 30 May 30 1030-1900
An Austrian protest will shut down the Brenner Pass from 1030 - 1900 Saturday 30 May 2026. A peaceful march will take place on the A13 to Innsbruck. Drivers heading north should avoid the A22 and reroute to the A4 toward Tarvisio.

New EU Entry/Exit System (EES) & DoW Travel Exemption
On 1 April 2026, the European Union (EU) fully implemented its new automated biometric Entry/ExitSystem (EES), used for registering non-EU nationals traveling for a Short Stay (90 days within any 180-day period), each time they cross the external borders of any of the 29 European countries using the system. Exemptions from EES registration have been made to include Servicemembers, Civilians and their Command Sponsored Dependents traveling on NATO or Partnership for Peace business. 1. “DoW Servicemembers, DA Civilians, Contractors and their Command Sponsored Dependents on NATO Assignments in Europe are EXEMPT from EES requirements under existing International Agreements”. Exempt Travelers MUST NOT Register in EES!
2. Upon arrival to ANY OF THE 29 COUNTRY BORDER CHECKS, state the following to immigration officials: "I am a United States Department of War traveler on official orders. As such, I am exempt from EES requirements per applicable international agreements."
3. Exempt Travelers MUST Plan Ahead! Border checks have resulted in longer customs lines and may delay follow-on arrival events!
4.To ensure exemption and avoid travel delays, Personnel must travel with documents as identified in the Electronic Foreign Clearance Guidance for Italy. See QR Code below for full details.

5. ALL Personnel on Leisure Travel will use Tourist Passports. Travelers must be prepared to bring ALL travel documents listed above to show NATO mission status if requested at border check.
6. Department of War (DoW) Servicemembers, DA Civilians, Contractors and their Command Sponsored Dependents arriving at the VENICE MARCO POLO AIRPORT will proceed to “Visa D” Line. See photos below.

USAG Italy assigned/attached members erroneously registered in EES may request removal by scanning QR Code for pre-drafted email to the Vicenza Passport Office (usarmy.usag-italyusag.mbx.ees-de-registration@army.mil). Request must include information for each traveler in party as listed below.
