Civilian Wellness Program (Performance Triad)

Employee wellness must be a priority throughout our workforce. By promoting a healthier lifestyle we can enhance morale, increase productivity and performance, reduce medical costs and sick leave, and ultimately increase both job and life satisfaction across our force. The Performance Triad Wellness Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to help balance and sustain health through three main components: physical activity, nutrition and sleep —key actions that influence health in our "life space."

Voluntary participants in the programs are encouraged to contact the Fort Carson Wellness Center, located at the Forrest Resiliency Center on Prussman Boulevard in Building 1843. There you can conduct pre-, mid- and post-program health assessments and register for classes and seminars providing guidance for promoting good health.

Employees are provided the opportunity to take administrative leave (LN) to conduct physical fitness during the workday.  Each participant is authorized an hour a day, no more than three hours a week, and not to exceed 80 hours in a calendar year.

Annually from May 1 to Sept. 30 employees are encouraged to start the step challenge and begin preparing for the physical assessment.  In October employees should submit their results of the step challenge and are challenged to take a physical assessment, which includes push-ups, planking, stair stepper, rower, 1.5-mile run/walk and bike. Voluntary participants can earn up to 16 hours of time off if they participate in both events.
