Civilian Education System (CES)

The Civilian Education System (CES) is a progressive and sequential leader development program that provides enhanced educational opportunities for Army civilians throughout their careers. Army civilians will become multi-skilled, agile leaders of the 21st Century who personify the Warrior Ethos in all aspects, from warfighting support to statesmanship, to enterprise management.

  • Foundation Course (everyone)
  • Basic Course, GS 1-9 (or equivalent)
  • Intermediate Course, GS 10-12 (or equivalent)
  • Advanced Course, GS 13-15 ((or equivalent)

Supervisor Development

Army Management Staff College (AMSC) Supervisor Development program develops supervisors with knowledge and skills necessary to successfully manage work processes and lead in the Army Environment. This begins with Supervisor 101 for new supervisors, followed by mandatory Supervisor Development Courses for all civilian and military personnel who supervise Army civilians.

Self-Paced Online Learning

AMSC offers several flexible, distributed learning opportunities for Army Professionals to become more effective action officers, organizational leaders and managers.

Continuing Education for Senior Leaders (CESL)

The Continuing Education for Senior Leaders (CESL) is a one-week resident course offered at the AMSC Fort Leavenworth Campus. CESL is offered to Army civilians in grades GS 14-15, lieutenant colonels (O-5) and above, chief warrant officers 4 and 5, and command sergeants major (CSM) who supervise Army civilian supervisors and managers.
