Army Substance Abuse Program strengthens the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army's workforce, to conserve manpower and to enhance the combat readiness of service members.
SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER CLINICAL CARE
The clinical services for ASAP are provided by the Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care. SUDCC is an outpatient substance abuse treatment service available to all active-duty personnel. SUDCC's mission is to support military readiness by providing effective treatment strategies that will enable individuals to develop abstinence, enhance quality of life and promote healthy lifestyles.
The SUDCC staff is committed to the enhancement of quality living through early identification, evidenced based interventions, individualized treatment plans and aftercare strategies to prevent relapse. The following clinical services are available:
- Diagnostic Evaluations
- Outpatient Rehabilitation
- Individual and Group, Family and Couple Therapy
- After Care Rehabilitation
- Referrals for Medication Management
- Referrals to Prime For Life Education
DRUG TESTING PROGRAM
The Army Drug Testing Program is a command program composed of the Soldier, the commander, the Unit Prevention Leader (UPL), the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) staff, the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratories (FTDTL), the Medical Review Officer and the Staff Judge Advocate. The program has three primary goals:
- To deter service members from abusing drugs including illegal drugs and other illicit drugs.
- Be a tool for commanders to assess the security, military fitness, good order and discipline of their commands.
- Serve as a basis to take appropriate action, adverse or other (including referral for treatment), with a service member based on a positive test result.
RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM
The Risk Reduction Program is a Commander's Program that is visually presented as a target which depicts 14 high risk behaviors. The purpose of the risk reduction program is to reduce high-risk behavior in service members.
The program focuses on effective use of installation resources and coordinates effort between agencies utilizing the Installation Prevention Team to implement effective interventions.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Family members and retirees can address any problem that may adversely impact job performance, attendance, conduct or behavior on the job.
EAP services include screening, assessment, problem solving, referral, mediation and group facilitation.
PREVENTION EDUCATION PROGRAM
The following trainings are available: Leadership Briefing, Mandatory Troop Training, Mandatory Civilian Training and Family Member Training.
Throughout the year, ASAP hosts the following campaigns: 101 Days of Summer, Alcohol Awareness Month, Suicide Prevention, Red Ribbon Week and Impaired Driving Month.
