Command Sergeant Major Ruth Drewitt, Command Sergeant Major U.S. Army Garrison Aberdeen Proving Ground

Command Sergeant Major Ruth Drewitt is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and entered the U.S. Army on
20 August 1993. She attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia earning the Military Occupational Specialty of Automated Logistical Specialist (92A).

Her assignments include the 289th Quartermaster Company, Fort Hood, Texas; the 95th Maintenance Company, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; The Logistics Training Department, Fort Lee, Virginia; the 20th Area Support Group, Camp Carroll, Korea; the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and the 5th Special Forces Support Group and the Warrior Transition Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; the 1st Medical Brigade and to the 1st Cavalry Division, 3d Armored Brigade Combat Team as the Command Sergeant Major of the 215th Brigade Support Battalion,
Fort Hood, Texas. CSM Drewitt has served in overseas humanitarian service missions and contingency operations in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and at Camp Doha, Kuwait respectively. She has two combat tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and also served in Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. She was most recently assigned to Fort Polk, Louisiana as the Joint Readiness Training Center, Operations Group, Task Force Sustainment Command Sergeant Major Observer Controller Trainer.

Command Sergeant Major Drewitt has completed numerous military schools and training courses to include the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Basic Instructor Course, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator Course, Basic Airborne Course, the First Sergeant Course, the United States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy, the Battalion Pre-Command and Command Sergeants Major Course, and the Garrison Pre-Command Course. She holds a General Studies degree from Central Texas College, a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Excelsior College.
Command Sergeant Major Drewitt’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), National Defense Service Medal (w/bronze star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (w/bronze star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (w/numeral 5), Overseas Service Ribbon (w/numeral 5), NATO Medal, and the Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon. She has also been awarded the Basic Parachutist Badge. She is a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Martin and was selected as a Distinguished Member of the Quartermaster Corps.

Command Sergeant Major Drewitt has one son, Kevin Drewitt Jr., who also serves in the Army and is a Signal Support Systems Specialist stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.
