Major General James (Jim) D. Turinetti IV assumed duties as the 18th Commander of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command and Senior Commander of Aberdeen Proving Ground on June 28, 2024.

As the commanding general for a 9,000-person, two-star global command and senior commander of a 28,000-person military base, Major General Turinetti serves as the U.S. Army’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) and medical materiel integrator. He is responsible for enabling the U.S. Army’s warfighting readiness by providing sustainable global C5ISR and medical materiel support.

Major General Turinetti grew up outside of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. After graduating from The Ohio State University as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army Signal Corps in June 1994. Additionally, Major General Turinetti earned a Master of Arts in Telecommunications Management from Webster University and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy with a focus on cyber security leadership from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.

Throughout his 30-year career as an Army officer, Major General Turinetti has served as a leader in a variety of roles at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. Some of Major General Turinetti’s notable previous assignments include Commandant and 41st Chief of Signal, U.S. Army Signal School, Fort Eisenhower; Director for the C5 Directorate, J-6/Chief Information Officer for U.S. Central Command; Director for the Communications Systems Directorate, J-6/Chief Information Officer for U.S. Southern Command; Commander, Defense Information Systems Agency Central Field Command; Deputy G-6 for the U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii; 1st Cavalry Division Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, during which time he deployed as the CJ-6 for the Combined Joint Task Force – 1, Regional Command – East in Bagram, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM; and U.S. Liaison to the SFOR CJ-6 (Bosnia-Herzegovina) for OPERATION JOINT GUARD. Other special assignments include Branch Chief, Signal Corps, United States Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox; HQDA CIO/G-6 Chief, Strategic Initiatives Group; Commander's Initiatives Group, 5th Signal Command; and S-6 Advisor to the Iraqi Special Forces, Special Operations Iraq Transition Team during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM; and Signal Observer/Controller National Training Center, Fort Irwin.

Major General Turinetti’s military education includes the Signal Corps Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Combined Arms Service Staff Officer Course, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.

Major General Turinetti and his wife, Monique Kelsey, have two children.
