Mr. Michael Kreilein assumed duties as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, U.S. Army Garrison – Aberdeen Proving Ground (USAG APG), Aberdeen Maryland, in June 2022.
He serves as the senior civilian and primary official in support to the Garrison Commander inproviding leadership and program guidance for the integration and delivery of base operations (BASOPS) services in the areas of Operations, Security; Law Enforcement, Protection, and Fire & Emergency Services; Public Works, Human Resources; Plans, Analysis, and Integration; Resource Management; Family and Morale, Welfare andRecreation; Postal; Religious Support; Public Affairs; Equal Opportunity; Information Management, Internal Review; and Safety.
Mr. Kreilein is responsible to manage an exceptional team of garrison professionals who provide unparalleled service in order to support combat ready Soldiers, ensure quality infrastructure and deliver comprehensive BASOPS support services to Active Duty, Retirees, Civilians, and Family Members within the United States Army Aberdeen Proving Ground Community.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Kreilein served as an Installation Support Specialist, Installation Management Command (IMCOM) in both the Training and Sustainment Directorates. He was the Directorate technical expert in support of six US Army Garrisons, and was responsible for directly assisting in the planning and execution of installation management key account program initiatives that enabled effective delivery of IMCOM core services. He was responsible for accomplishing a variety of liaison, advisory and consultant duties, and was intimately knowledgeable of and supported his assigned garrisons in all BASOPS functional areas. Additionally, he established direct relationships that worked through and with Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Assistant Chief of Staff, G-9, Headquarters IMCOM, supported Army Commands (ACOMs) and other supporting agencies.
Since beginning his Army Civilian career in 2008, Mr. Kreilein has also served as the Acting Deputy to the Garrison Commander at both Fort Hamilton, NY; and Yuma Proving Ground, AZ; and the Director, Plans, Analysis and Integration Office (PAIO), USAG Yuma. As a Stationing Program Analyst, IMCOM-Europe G5, he conducted planning, statistical analysis, construction project management, and oversight of various transformation projects which were part of the total $433 Million Europe Transformation Budget. The IMCOM-Europe G5 Team achieved the closure of 139 Sites, reduction of 12 US Army Garrisons in Europe, and over $1.1 Billion in savings in annual Base Operating Costs.
Mr. Kreilein holds a BA Degree from Indiana University, and a Public Manager Certification from Arizona State University. He has been awarded multiple Military and Civilian service awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Army Commendation Medal, and the Superior Civilian Service Award.
