Several individuals received recognition for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic at a COVID-19 Air Force Achievement Medal Ceremony Sept. 2 at McAfee U.S. Army Health Clinic.
White Sands Missile Range will open Trinity Site to the public after a brief pause in activities due to COVID-19 on Oct. 2. In order to comply with the New Mexico Governor’s COVID-19 requirements, masks must be worn while inside the buses and inside the ranch house.
WSMR Connect to Protect event brings community together
​White Sands Missile Range was one of seven military bases selected as a Fiscal Year 2021 Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program Challenge winner. WSMR will receive $5.6 million for its compatible land protection.

Tests White Sands Missile Range supports the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as commercial and international users on a reimbursable basis. More than 42,000 tests have been conducted at White Sands Missile Range the past 76 years. About 9 tests are conducted daily, and more than 3,000 annually.

Economic Impact – White Sands Missile Range produces an estimated economic impact of $5.3 million daily, and $1.9 billion annually in Las Cruces, Doña Ana County and the surrounding borderland region. On average, military spending accounts for 30 percent of wages in Southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas.

Demographics White Sands Missile Range has approximately 5,000 civilian employees, 350 servicemembers from the Army (~ 230), Air Force (~110) and Navy (~20), 930 housing residents (374 housing units available) and 300 elementary and middle school students.
