Scope: The Analytical Laboratory System Operator Course training will focus on providing the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incident, as part of the state emergency management response system. Provides training in sample analysis techniques/ procedures, operator level use, and working knowledge of the technical and tactical skills necessary to accomplish missions in the ALS as a WMD/CST ALS operator. The course will also train students to operate the Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS), Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Electrochemiluminescence (ECL), Fourier Transfer Infrared (FTIR), and Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) instruments that are part of the Analytical Laboratory System. Hands on training is used extensively to ensure students master the requisite skills. Upon completion, student will be able to operate the entire Analytical Laboratory System instrument set to identify suspected hazardous materials.
