CASUALTY ASSISTANCE SERVICES
The Casualty Assistance Center (CAC) provides assistance to the primary and secondary next of kin of deceased Active-Duty Army and Retired Army Soldiers during the period immediately following a casualty and assists in eliminating delays in settling claims and payment of Survivor benefits. Our team manages the rendering of honors for Military Funeral Honors at the funeral or interment services of Active-Duty, Retired and Veteran Soldiers of the U.S. Army. Our office also ensures the proper processing of Line of Duty Investigations (LOD) protecting the interests of both the individual Soldier and the U.S. Government when services are interrupted by injury, illness or death.
The CAC provides assistance to the Families of Active-Duty Soldiers, individual casualty reporting and recording to include notification to the primary and secondary next of kin in a timely manner. If the deceased is a Retired Army Soldier, our office will report the information to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to cease retirement pay and initiation of the Survivor benefits process.
When reporting the death of an Army Active-Duty Soldier, Army Active-Duty Soldier’s eligible Family Member, Army Retired Soldier, or any Veteran who previously served honorably in the Army, please provide the following information:
• Full name of Soldier
