West Point officials are committed to providing a Garrison and Community that is accessible and at the same time, safe and secure. Emergency preparedness is an integral yet often overlooked part of our safety, and is a shared responsibility of our Garrison and Community.

This Emergency Management webpage, maintained jointly by United States Army Garrison West Point Public Affairs and the West Point Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security Operations, provides our Garrison and Community with information on how to prepare for emergencies, what to do in the case of an emergency, how to stay informed, a list of emergency contacts and emergency-related policies and more.       

Being prepared for an emergency eases anxiety, promotes self-reliance, and is the best form of self-protection should an emergency occur. You are your own best "first responder."

West Point community members can enroll their personal, and family members mobile phone numbers and email addresses in West Point’s Desktop Alert system to receive text messages, email messages and automated phone messages in the event of an emergency or crisis.


Common Access Card (CAC) holders have the ability to update their own Desktop Alert profile – to include adding unlimited email addresses and phone numbers to the system through any government-issued computer on West Point. The Desktop Alert icon [ ⚡ ] can be found by clicking the up arrow in the bottom right hand corner of the task bar on all government issued computers on West Point.
