West Point is located along the Hudson River a little more than 50 miles north of New York City.  It sits in Orange County, NY.  The closest community is located outside the South Gate where the museum and visitor center are located; the town of Highland Falls. To the north is Storm King Mountain and on the other side of it the town of Cornwall, NY and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.

The Hudson Valley is a beautiful place and West Point is surrounded by wonderful little communities to include those across the river.  There is a train line located on the east side of the Hudson that allows for efficient travel up and down the Hudson Valley.
