LTC Stilwell was born in Putnam, Connecticut. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Systems Engineering. Upon graduation, he commissioned as an Armor and Cavalry officer in the United States Army.
LTC Stilwell has served in a variety of command and staff assignments, including: Tank Platoon Leader, Infantry Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Battalion Logistics Officer with 1-64 Armor Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA, Iraq, and Afghanistan; Troop Commander, 3-38 Cavalry Squadron (LRS), Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (Joint-Base Lewis-McChord, Washington); Company and Battalion Tactical Officer, United States Military Academy Preparatory School, West Point, New York; G3 Chief of Future Operations for the 3rd Infantry Division; Squadron Operations Officer and Executive Officer of the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA.
LTC Stilwell holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology and Leadership from Columbia University, and a master’s degree from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies.
