Ms. Jennifer M. Peterson
Deputy to the Garrison Commander (Interim)
Ms. Jennifer Peterson has devoted over two decades of distinguished service to the U.S. Army’s installation management mission. Her experience spans the full breadth of the installation enterprise, including Garrison, Directorate/Region, and Headquarters levels, and encompasses service as a Contractor, Non‑Appropriated Fund (NAF) employee, and Appropriated Fund (APF/GS) civilian. Her diverse background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the policies, programs, and operational demands that shape Army installations.
Ms. Peterson serves as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, a key advisor to Garrison Command in directing daily base operations of USAG Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield and managing comprehensive municipal services for a premier Army Power Projection Platform. She previously served in a dual capacity as the Interim Resource Management Officer (RMO), concurrent with her appointment as the Plans, Analysis and Integration Officer (PAIO). Amidst two Lapses in Appropriations and shifting priorities, she expertly managed a multi-million-dollar portfolio. Additionally, she oversees reshaping the USAG workforce, mitigating gaps due to attrition and Army Reshaping, and restructuring the TDA in support of 3ID Senior Commander priorities. Her business acumen synchronizes resources to directly enable training, readiness, and rapid deployment capabilities during critical modernization windows.
As PAIO, she is a key advisor to Garrison Command at the premier East Coast power projection platform. She is responsible for strategic planning, performance analysis, and the integration of initiatives that drive improvement in service delivery. She is known for her ability to assess complex issues, balance competing priorities, and develop solutions that strengthen installation readiness and community support. Her practical imagination and cross‑functional expertise enable her to provide exceptional support to operations and long‑range planning efforts.
Previously, Ms. Peterson served as the Deputy Director for Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Stewart. She also served as the Interim Director, FMWR, and as Interim Deputy Garrison Commander for Hunter Army Airfield. Prior to her arrival at Fort Stewart, she was the Division Chief for Army Recreation Programs, IMCOM G9, Joint Base San Antonio–Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In that capacity, she was responsible for resourcing, managing, planning, directing, and synchronizing a global portfolio of services and support to contingency and forward‑deployed operations across multiple countries. She routinely collaborated with higher headquarters, other commands, government agencies, installations, and academic partners to build a unified operational picture and ensure effective program execution.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Peterson is known for her adventurous spirit and enjoys traveling the globe and her achievements include tornado chasing, dog sledding, and crossing the Arctic Circle. She is deeply grateful for the love and support of her parents and her daughter who continue to inspire her dedication to service.
