Colonel Reid E. Furman

Colonel Reid E. Furman is a native of Sunbury, PA, and graduated from West Point where he was commissioned as an Armor Officer in May 2000.

Colonel Furman’s past assignments include Deputy G3, 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne); Executive Officer to the Commanding General, NATO Special Operations Component Command – Afghanistan / Special Operations Joint Task Force- Afghanistan, and Commander of Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group, United States John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.

Previously, he served on the Joint Staff within the Deputy Directorate for Special Operations and Counter Terrorism (J37/DDSO), and completed numerous assignments in 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). While assigned to 3rd SFG, he completed four combat deployments to Afghanistan.

He earned a Masters degree from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy.  His military education includes the Army War College, the Command and General Staff School, the Special Forces Qualification Course, the Combined Arms Staff Service School, the Armor Captains Career Course, and the Armor Officer Basic Course. His military training and qualifications include Airborne, Jumpmaster, Master Parachutist, Master Freefall Parachutist, Ranger, Pathfinder, and SERE.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (3 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. Foreign decorations include Dutch Airborne wings, Dutch Freefall wings, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in gold, and German jump wings in silver.

Oberst Reid E. Furman​​​​​​​

Oberst Reid E. Furman stammt aus Sunbury, Pennsylvania, und hat sein Studium in West Point abgeschlossen, wo er im Mai 2000 zum Panzeroffizier ernannt wurde.

Oberst Furman war unter anderem stellvertretender G3 des 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), Executive Officer des Commanding General, NATO Special Operations Component Command - Afghanistan / Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan und Kommandeur des Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group, United States John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. Zuvor diente Oberst Furman im Gemeinsamen Stab in der stellvertretenden Direktion für Sondereinsätze und Terrorismusbekämpfung (J37/DDSO) und absolvierte zahlreiche Einsätze in der 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), wo er als Group Operations Officer, Special Forces Battalion Executive Officer, Special Forces Company Commander und Special Forces Detachment Commander tätig war. Während seiner Zugehörigkeit zur 3rd Special Forces Group absolvierte er vier Kampfeinsätze in Afghanistan.

Seine zivile Ausbildung umfasst einen Master-Abschluss von der University of Kansas (2012) und einen Bachelor of Science von der United States Military Academy, West Point (2000).
