Motorcycle Safety Foundations Courses
To ride a motorcycle legally in Europe, the Army requires active duty Soldiers to complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course.
Servicemembers who have completed their BRC training have 12 months to complete required ARC training to receive complete qualification. Servicemembers without Motorcycle Safety Foundation training cannot operate a motorcycle in Germany. U.S. Army civilian personnel / employees are not affected. The complete MSF qualification comprises BRC and ARC training. The BRC is valid for 12 months, and the ARC for 5 years; sustainment training is required before the ARC qualification expires.

Motorcycle Safety Course Availability for FY26
The Army Safety Center has funded IMCOM-Europe Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes through the end of calendar year 2026.
If personnel had previously signed up for a class in AIRS, they will be contacted to verify they will participate. Please acknowledge the email communication. Giving no response or a negative (unable to attend) response will result in the course slot being given to the next person on the waiting list. If you need the Basic Riders Course or the Advanced Riders Course, sign up in AIRS. Check AIRS regularly for additional classes, as the USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Safety Office will attempt to add more classes if other garrisons do not utilize all available funded courses.
