A native of Columbus Ohio, Command Sergeant Major Kevin Burg, enlisted into the United States Army on 4 January 1996.  He enlisted as a 19D Cavalry Scout, completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox Kentucky, and has served in every cavalry leadership position from Team Leader to Squadron Command Sergeant Major. He has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Atlantic Resolve.

Command Sergeant Major Burg’s previous duty assignments include 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado; 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Noncommissioned Officer Academy, and 1st Battalion, 509th Infantry Battalion, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Military Transition Team Class 39, Fort Riley Kansas; 4th Battalion, 162nd Security Force Assistance Brigade, Fort Polk, Louisiana; 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; The Ohio State University, Columbus Ohio; 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, Fort Riley Kansas; 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Carson Colorado; and 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin California.

His military education consists of Basic Leader, Advanced Leader, Senior Leader, and First Sergeants Courses, United States Army Sergeants Major Course Class 67, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Phases 1 and 2.  He has also completed the  Cavalry Leader and Scout Leader Courses, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course, Total Army Instructor Training Course, CREW Master Gunner Course, Homemade Explosives Course at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Explosive Hazard Unit Trainer Course (Afghanistan), Advanced Military Transition Team Training, Combative Level I, Air Assault School, and Airborne School.  His civilian education includes an Associate’s of Arts in General Studies from Central Texas College and a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security with honors from the American Military University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Leadership through Trident Military University.

Command Sergeant Major Burg’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6OLC), Army Achievement Medal (12OLC), the Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (two bronze service stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), NATO Medal (ISAF), the Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist Badge. He is also a Sergeant Audie Murphy Awardee and a recipient of the Bronze Order of Saint George Medallion. 

Command Sergeant Major Burg is happily married to his wife Diana and a proud father of four children.
