The installation voter assistance office serves as a Voter Registration Agency under the NVRA (National Voter Registration Act) and provides the following voting related services:
Assistance to all military members and their families
Registration assistance to civilians who have access to and visit the office
Written information on voter procedures
Collecting and reporting of voting activity metrics
Many Soldiers/Civilians and their families are stationed far from their voting residences and as such, must vote using absentee ballots. Fortunately, voting absentee has never been easier. Service members simply send a Federal Post Card Application (SF-76) to their Local Election Officials. This serves two purposes: 1. Voter registration, and 2. Alerts election officials what address to send absentee ballots to.
STEP ONE is to complete the Federal Post Card Application (SF76). In days past, the forms had to be ordered by procurement professionals through official logistics channels. Today, anyone can complete the form, free of charge, online at the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) website www.fvap.gov using their online wizard.
STEP TWO is to print and mail the Federal Post Card Application to your Local Election Official. No envelope or postage is required: It’s designed to be folded, sealed and mailed securely at no cost to the Voter. Many states will even accept electronic submission.
Voting absentee has never been easier!
The Installation Voting Office is now located in Maude Hall Bldg 6400 on the third floor (Inside the Housing Office). The garrison Voting Office is located on the third floor in room S310 (Inside the MPD).
