Often finding the resources and understanding the regulations for health care in a new location can be daunting. TRICARE is a health program for:
Uniformed Service Members includes active duty and retired members of the: U.S. Army,U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association and their families,
National Guard/Reserve members, include members of the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Air National Guard Air Force Reserve U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and their families, Survivors, Former spouses, Medal of Honor recipients and their families, and Others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).

TRICARE offers three different dental plans. Each plan has its own dental contractor.

Medical Services/Directory - on Installation
There are no Medical or Dental Services on Devens. The closest hospital to Devens is the Deaconess-Nashoba Community Hospital in Ayer, MA, five miles away. Their telephone number is 978-784-9361. There are five other hospitals within thirty minutes drive of Devens. They are Emerson Hospital in Concord, Leominster Hospital in Leominster, University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester Medical Center, and St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester.
Additionally some of the best hospitals in the world are located one hour away in Boston, MA.

All patients must present a valid military, dependent or retiree ID card upon checking in at the Records and Reception area.
Sick Call
During duty hours, call 781-225-6324 . After hours emergency care is outsourced to a private, group practice dental office. For after hours emergencies call 781-225-6789 for the Medical Squadron answering service. The answering service will then contact the dentist on call.
Emergency dental needs include: uncontrolled pain, swelling, bleeding, and trauma.

Primarily active duty service members
Family member and retiree beneficiaries may be seen for emergency dental needs. They are responsible for obtaining follow-up and comprehensive dental care in the private sector. Routine dental concerns may be treated on a limited space-available basis.
Dental care for family members (spouses and children) is currently provided through MetLife.
If beneficiaries have questions, they can access customer service at 1-855-638-8371 or online at http://www.tricare.mil/bwe/. Also, if beneficiaries would like to check if their current dentist is part of MetLife's network, they can visit www.metlife com/dental. Ifthe dentist is not a member, they can apply to become part of this network by visiting www.metdental.com.
The Active Duty Dental Plan (ADDP) for Active Duty Service Members (ADSM) only has not changed and is still provided by United Concordia.
The dental care plan for retirees and their family members has not changed and is provided through Delta Dental of California TRICARE Dental Program or at their own cost.
Enrollment in any of the programs is not automatic. Call 1-877-TRICARE (874-2273).
All newcomers are encouraged to enroll online as soon as they transfer to Hanscom Air Force Base.
