Mission
To secure the future of the Military Intelligence Corps by training the next generation of intelligence professionals.
History
The 6th BN (MI), 98th Regiment (IT), arose in 1978 when instructors and administrators of the 99th Army Security Agency Co at Fort Meade decided that USAG Devens RFTA would be an ideal place to train reservists in Military Intelligence. The battalion at USAG Devens RFTA actively developed lesson plans and curricula with a focus on intelligence support to tactical operations. By 1980, students from across the country started taking MOS acquisition courses, particularly in communications security. In 2005 Soldiers of the 6th BN deployed to train the new Iraqi Army in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. That year the unit also passed a rigorous certification program and became accredited under the Total Army School System. Today the 6th BN continues to strive to provide Soldiers the best training possible, so that the Army can fight and win our Nation's wars.
