Jim Thorpe Fitness Center offers group classes, an indoor track, and a full range of cardio and strength equipment, with free memberships available through WebTrac and class passes available online or at the front desk. The facility spans three floors, including a functional training and conditioning area with modular stations on the first floor, a track and TRX/Combatives space on the second, and a main group fitness studio for classes like yoga, Zumba, and kickboxing on the third. No reservations are required for classes, but participants should arrive 10 minutes early to purchase a class pass.
MT. Pleasant Fitness Center offers cardio, strength and weight equipment and is located across from Root Hall Gymnasium on Forbes Ave. First time users can obtain a free membership by visiting the desk staff at MT. Pleasant Fitness Center Facility.
Root Hall Gym offers a versatile indoor sports environment on Carlisle Barracks, featuring a full‑size basketball and volleyball court, a regulation racquetball court, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas, and also serves as the home of the Sports Office and Intramural Sports Office.
For runners, there is a 2-mile dirt path around the Golf Course as well as a 1-mile loop around the Army Heritage and Education Center. Both trails are also connected. Soldiers can also lap swim at our outdoor pool, bowl, play tennis and golf and the great facilities on Carlisle Barracks.
Additionally, for those who are interested in participating in the installation BOSS (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) Program, contact the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment at 717-245-3244. BOSS events are a great way to volunteer on post and in the local community, participate in recreational activities, such as snowboarding and kayaking, and to meet other Soldiers on Carlisle Barracks.
