Welcome to Fort Belvoir

ATTENTION: Effective immediately, drivers entering Fort Belvoir Access Control Points will be subject to increased security measures. Drivers should be prepared for delays and should adjust arrival times accordingly. To minimize delays Valid ID Card Holders should use designated lanes to access the installation.

The SSG John D Linde Visitor Center issues passes to access the installation.  The Visitor Center is located at Tulley Gate, and open Monday–Friday 6:00am to 4:00pm, closed on weekends and holidays.  All individuals (16 yrs of age and older) are required to have a valid driver’s license, state identification card, or US Passport.  Travelers and passengers without valid DoD CAC, military retiree ID card, DoD family member ID, or Fort Belvoir visitors pass will undergo additional security checks.  After hours, visitors may gain entry to post upon being cleared by Fort Belvoir Force Protection security personnel at Lieber Gate. 

All privately-owned vehicles driven onto Fort Belvoir are required to be licensed, registered, inspected and insured according to state and local laws. Vehicles entering the post are subject to a 100 percent identification check and all vehicles are subject to inspection.  It is recommended that anyone without a valid ID, stop by the Visitor Center at Tully Gate for vetting and issuance of an approved visitor pass.


Commercial Vehicles / Taxi / Uber / Lyft / For Hire Vehicles

Individuals in these types of vehicles will be processed at Lieber Gate. 


REAL ID ACT Implementation


Individuals will need a secondary ID if their state-issued driver's license and identification card is marked, “Not for Federal Identification, Not for Federal Purposes, or Federal Limits May Apply”. If you do not have a secondary ID, you will be denied access, or you’ll have to be escorted by a DoD Cardholder.  Valid US Passport, Passport Card, and original birth certificate are acceptable forms of secondary identification.  Social Security Cards will not be accepted for a secondary form of identification.

Visitor Center (VCC) Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Visitors will use Lieber Gate after hours or when the Visitor Center is closed.
