Command Sgt. Major Taylor A. Cathey

Command Sergeant Major Taylor A. Cathey was born in Kalispell, MT and enlisted in the active Army in 2005.  She completed Basic Combat Training in Fort Jackson, SC in November 2005 and completed Parachute Rigger (92R) Advanced Individual Training in Fort Lee, VA in September 2006. 

Command Sergeant Major Cathey’s military assignments include the 600^th Quartermaster Company, the 612^th Quartermaster Company, and the United States Army Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate in Fort Bragg, NC, the Aerial Delivery and Field Services Department, Fort Lee, VA, the United States Army Advanced Airborne School and 647^th Quartermaster Company in Fort Bragg, NC, the 1^st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA, the 204^th Quartermaster Detachment, Fort Bragg, NC, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 82^nd Airborne Division in Fort Liberty, NC, and United States Army Garrison – West Point in West Point, NY.

Command Sergeant Major Cathey’s leadership positions include Squad Leader, Section Chief, Senior Instructor/Writer, Jumpmaster Committee Chief, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Senior Airdrop Operations NCO, Senior Airdrop Operations Sergeant Major, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, and Garrison Command Sergeant Major.

Command Sergeant Major Cathey’s civilian education consists of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Campbell University and an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College.  Her military education includes the United States Army Airborne School, United States Army Advanced Airborne School Jumpmaster School, Warrior Leader Course, Sabaluski Pathfinder School, Advanced Leader Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Military Free Fall Parachutist Course, Senior Leader Course, Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

Command Sergeant Major Cathey’s awards and decorations include; the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), the Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,  the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Non-Article 5 NATO Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachute Rigger Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Badge, and the Pathfinder Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Cathey is married to Sergeant First Class (Retired) Andrew Flickinger of Fort Dodge, IA; together they have a daughter, Rylee.
